"You Don't Own Me"

Women constitute more than half of the population. In 2008, 60% of voters were women. It is estimated that 10 million more women than men will vote in this election. Despite this, women make up only 16% of Congress. Women earn only 70 cents to each dollar men make. Women of color and undocumented women make less than white citizens. Mitt Romney and the Republican Party are determined to overturn Roe V. Wade. Romney has not supported equal pay for women (The Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act). Romney has vowed to defund Planned Parenthood. Romney has vowed to repeal the Affordable Care Act. Romney doesn't want health care to cover birth control. Romney says same sex marriage should be banned with a Constitutional Amendment. Women, let's rise up. Our vote alone can win this election. A vote for Obama is a vote for your health and your right to choose. It is a vote for equal pay and equal rights. A vote for Obama is a vote for our families. It is a vote to marry who you choose. It's a vote to start a family when you choose. A vote for Obama says that we won't stand for violence against women and that rape is rape. Our vote ensures that our daughters will grow up with the same rights that we've had. A vote for Obama sends a message: This war on women must end. We will not go backwards. This election is shockingly close. Our safety is at stake. Our silence is consent and our vote is our voice. Let's get active. Let's get out every vote we can. Let's make this election a mandate. A mandate to finally ensure women the respect, dignity and equality we all deserve! This is now. This is our call to action. Once and for all, let's take back the power that is so inherently and naturally ours!

"Flash forward a few years. The Romney-Roberts Supreme Court has overturned Roe andGriswold. Abortion is illegal in most of the country and the morning-after pill is no longer an approved FDA drug. When the Defense of Marriage Act came before the Court in 2014, Justice Scalia used the occasion to restore the government’s power to outlaw sex acts deemed immoral by overturning Lawrence and Garner v. Texas, the landmark 2003 decision that tossed out antisodomy laws. The Affordable Care Act has been repealed by the Republican Congress on the rationale that Obamacare’s mandate to buy insurance was a tyrannical intrusion on American liberty. Meanwhile, a national law requiring women seeking abortions to undergo compulsory transvaginal ultrasounds has gone into effect. The records of their abortions, their sexual partners and the names of their doctors are being stored in a national database."

"Mitt Romney’s infamous dog-on-the-roof-of-the-car story is atrocious, and has been mocked within an inch of its life. But there are many other stories from the Republican presidential candidate’s personal life that illuminate what kind of a human being he really is. Here’s a look at a few of them."

Biden Lays Out Choice For Women in 2012

Biden Lays Out Choice For Women in 2012
"He called them out for imposing their private views on women, and was very specific about the shape of the U.S. Supreme Court if Romney wins this election. This, by the way, is what should give every progressive, Democrat, liberal or independent a reason to vote for Obama -- the idea of having Mitt Romney nominate the next two Supreme Court justices is the kind of nightmare we really don't need to have."

Romney and Ryan Have Resorted to Lying as a Form of Debating | Alternet
"The major problem, however, is that all of this lazy thinking leaves Republicans ill-equipped to govern – as seen in the problems encountered by the Gingrich Congress, the George W. Bush administration and now the Boehner/Ryan House. And that matters a lot."

Jon Stewart Takes on the Craziest Rape-Denying, Conspiracy-Spouting GOP Candidates

In a segment titled "You Magnificent Bastards" Jon Stewart introduced his viewers last night to GOP characters like Todd Akin, Joe Walsh, Paul Broun and of course Allen West. Paul Ryan gets confused on abortion talking points. Because he doesn't believe them.
"Ryan is as rabidly anti-woman as can be. He's a cosponsor of the Sanctity of Human Life Act to define an egg as a person in order to ban abortion, birth control, and even some fertility treatments and methods. He's proud of his perfect rating from the National Right to Life Committee, and has said, "I’m as pro-life as a person gets." Ryan has never met an anti-abortion bill, or an anti-women's health care bill, he didn't like. He doesn't care about the science that contradicts his beliefs and agenda; he doesn't care about women; and he certainly doesn't care about children, since he's also the guy who wants to cut funding for all services that help children from the budget."

Paul Ryan: No Specifics, Just a Secret Plan | Common Dreams
"Richard Milhous Nixon said in 1968 that the war in Vietnam was the critical concern of that year's presidential contest, the one issue that had to be addressed by the candidates.  And he addressed it with a “secret plan” to end the war. No details during the campaign, the Republican nominee for president explained; voters just needed to trust him and he would cut the right deals once elected."

"9. Ryan Supports GOP Platform's Ban on All Abortions

Four Ways A Romney Supreme Court Would Change The Constitution Without Amending It

Four Ways A Romney Supreme Court Would Change The Constitution Without Amending ItEliminating The Right To An Abortion: Roe v. Wade is already on life support. The Court’s current majority weakened the longstanding rule ensuring that women may terminate pregnancies that threaten their health, claiming instead that a federal abortion restriction should be allowed in part because “some women come to regret” their own reproductive choices. If Romney were able to add an additional conservative to the Supreme Court, Roe would likely be forfeit.

"Mitt Romney's history on abortion reads like the Kama Sutra: it contains almost every position imaginable. In a meeting with the Des Moines Register editorial board, Romney declared, "There's no legislation with regards to abortion that I'm familiar with that would become part of my agenda."
